“There has to be a better way”, thought Debbie Flynn, 30-year veteran of the youth travel business and founder member of WYSE Work Abroad. Each year, valuable information had to be extracted from an assortment of good, but unconnected, documents and databases, to ascertain which host family was best located for ABC Corporation, or where the philosophy student was happily placed last year.
“There has to be a better way”, thought Debbie, and there was.
Debbie teamed up with Karen Henry, an experienced business systems specialist and long-time collaborator of Debbie’s, to design the perfect educational travel business management software. “Students should be matched with available internship positions automatically” they exclaimed, “they should receive customised emails with links to Google map locations for work and accommodation”. Obvious stuff, really, but hugely time saving.
Throughout 2007 and 2008, Debbie and Karen developed and used a prototype system.
